Low Back Pain

Low back pain can happen for various reasons. Sometime it is a chronic problem as well. But acute low back pain is one of the commonest problem. It usually happens due to postural problems. Our spine has three parts. Upper most part is known as cervical spine. Middle part of the spine is known as dorsal spine and lower part of the spine is known as lumbo sacral spine. Low back pain can be from back muscle injury or sprain due to improper posture or weight lifting etc. It also can happen due to disc problem in lumbo sacral spine. Majority of the low back pain improve with rest and ice pack application to lower back. Few low back pain need treatment with exercise and medicine. In rare cases it need surgical treatment of the spine. One has to consult a physician or a physiatrist for the right kind management after diagnosing the problem. The doctor may need help of X Ray or other imaging methods to diagnose the problem and advise. A patient of a back pain need to be cautious about his/her posture, movement, weight lifting etc. to prevent further injury or sprain. Spinal exercises are beneficial many a times but should be advised by a Physiatrist. There are few low back pain which radiate towards lower limbs. This usually because of spinal disc prolapse and secondary spinal canal stenosis. Means soft disc between two vertebra of spine move from its position and put pressure on the nerves passing through the spinal canal. Many a times this require a small surgery of spinal disc by which the radiating pain is cured completely.
